Surat City Gets New International Diamond Trading Center

A state-of-the-art Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) is planned on the Surat Airport road with the proposed investment to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore.



The campaign to shift diamond offices from Mumbai to the world's biggest diamond cutting and polishing center in Surat seems to be gaining momentum after Wednesday's meeting.


By Industry sources said owners of big diamond companies, including Diamond Trading Company (DTC) sight holders, have been explore  for 2 lakh square meter land on Vesu-Dumas Road in the city to construct a world-class 'Sardar Diamond Bourse', which will house diamond trading offices and cabins for small traders.

A DTC sightholder said, “All eyes are on Wednesday evening’s meeting in the diamond city. We want to reach at the a general agreement for the same and that things will be finalized soon”


"The 'Chalo Surat' movement has gained momentum. In the next few days, the developers of Sardar Diamond Bourse are likely to purchase 2 lakh square metre of land between Vesu and Dumas. The bourse would be set up in three years." said By Surat Diamond Association president Dinesh Navadia
