Toyota Fortuner battler will be launched in China in May 2015.
iFeng Auto has posted a few images of the next generation Ford Endeavour, the local production of which was confirmed earlier this year. So far Ford has said Thailand and China would manufacture the SUV, and unveiled a near-production concept at both places.
The Endeavour is based on the Ranger pickup’s chassis, but gets a car-like coil spring rear suspension.
To be made by the JMC-Ford JV, the new Endeavour (or Everest) would come with two engine options in China – a 2.0L GTDi engine that develops a maximum power of 200 bhp and 320 Nm of torque, and a 2.2L Puma diesel engine that develops 181 bhp and 390 Nm of torque. Ford will offer the engines with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox, and higher variants would get four-wheel drive, a multi-mode driving program, and pneumatic suspension.
This mule has mirror-mounted indicators, LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps typically offered on the top-end variant.
Test mules were spotted with lenses and sensors behind the windshield hinting that advanced safety features like autonomous braking and a crash detection system have trickled down into the Endeavour.
The Endeavour is sold in India from assembled kits that are shipped from the Thai plant. This arrangement may not change when the new model launches here later in the year.
