Indian Autos Blog can reveal that the Maruti Ciaz will be launched on October 6. The SX4 replacement will go head-on with the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the recently relaunched VW Vento and Skoda Rapid
The Maruti Ciaz replaces the ailing SX4.
The initial bookings of the new mid-size sedan have already crossed 5,000 units, signalling a good acceptance. The Ciaz is available with a 1.4-litre K-Series petrol engine which puts out 95 PS (93.66 bhp) and 130 Nm of torque, and the famous 1.3-litre DDiS (Fiat Multijet) diesel engine that delivers 90 PS (88.7 bhp) and 200 Nm of torque.
While the petrol motor can be specified with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 4-speed automatic transmission, the diesel motor makes do only with the manual unit. The manual petrol variant returns an ARAI certified mileage of 20.73 km/l and at 26.21 km/l, the diesel variant is the most fuel efficient car in the country.
The dual-tone interior gets faux wood inserts in the top-end variants.
The petrol and diesel versions are available in 4 trim levels each. Standard features in the base variants include projector headlamps, keyless entry, electrically adjustable ORVMs, power windows and audio system.
