Junglee now post ads for used goods

Amazon owned price comparison website Junglee.com has introduced a new ‘Post Your Ad’ feature on its site, that enables users to post free advertisements to sell their goods, reports TechCircle.

To post an ad, users can type in the product name, choose the relevant product category, product condition and the intended price. One can also submit a product description along with a photo and provide your contact details. The site currently allows users to sell products across 26 categories including mobile phones, laptops, digital cameras, refrigerators, books, music, sports equipment and musical instruments among others.

Junglee mentions that these ads go through automated checks before appearing on the site and it could take upto 24 hours for the ad to go live. In order to prevent stale ads, each ad also automatically expires after a few days, however consumers will have the option to edit the existing ad and submit it again.

Whenever users search for a product, they can opt to view ads specific to that product by toggling the ‘Buy Used or New ‘ button at the top of search results. Similar to other classified sites, users are shown listings only from their city.

Switched from Quikr

Note that Junglee had previously integrated Quikr’s new & old products listings on its individual product pages and category pages, however we noticed that the company has now switched this to showcase its own classified listings.

It’s therefore possible that Junglee probably tested the waters with Quikr before launching its own classifieds sections. That being said, we did find a few Quikr listings on the site, although most of them have been posted a month back.

With this new classifieds section, Junglee will now be competing with Quikr itself along with Naspers-backed OLX which recently collaborated with Amazon’s competitor Flipkart to offer discounts to Flipkart’s consumers should they choose to sell their electronic goods on OLX. It will be interesting to see if we will see a deeper integration between both in the future. Other players in the space include Sulekha and Click.in.
