A stable core helps you do your physical activities with ease and also avoid any muscle injury. Ab wheel exercises are the best way to strengthen your core muscles. Ab wheel is easy to use and an inexpensive fitness equipment that is very effective for core muscle workouts. It is a wheel with a handle and grip on both sides. You are supposed to roll the wheel forward and backwards while exercising. It uses your body weight to stress the body.

Apart from building your ab muscles, this equipment can also build strength in your back. It engages muscles in the lower torso, the rectus abdominis, hip flexors and the latissimus dorsi which extends across your back from the shoulders to the pelvis. This equipment also works on your chest, arms and thighs. There are two common ways of doing ab wheel exercises.

Roll-out: Roll-out is usually done for the abdomen and back. Kneel with the wheel at your knees and roll out as much as you can. Try and touch the floor with your chest and pull it back to your knees. Once you begin doing this exercise with ease, try rolling farther forward. Doing this will require more muscular effort and help you increase the size of your muscles.

Roll-in: Roll-in leg exercises works on your thighs. In a push-up position, strap the wheels to your ankles with your hands on the floor. Keeping the legs straight and raising your hips, roll the wheel forward and roll it back to the starting position. This position does not however put much strain on the muscles of the back.

It is important to start slowly with any ab wheel exercise as to build your core muscles. You can also use swiss ball to strengthen your core muscles.
