How Oats Help to your skin

Oats, also known as avena sativa are cereals which not only have nutritional value but offer skincare benefits too. Oats posses antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which is why they help exfoliate, cleanse and moisturise the skin well. Hence, they are beneficial in resolving the following skin problems with a combination of other ingredients:


Oats and honey pack for dry skin



Oats contain vitamin E and  polysaccharides which soothe the skin and form a soft layer that protects it. This helps keep the skin soft and supple. Oats when used with milk and honey seep in the right amount of moisture and clear out dead skin cells as well.


Steps: For this pack, you will need 2 tablespoons of oats and raw milk with 1 tablespoon of honey. Ensure the oats used are finely powdered. Blend all the 3 ingredients well and apply all over the face and neck, leaving the eyes and lips. Wash it off once dry. Or you could mix some crushed oats powder with warm water and apply in areas with itchy skin. After 15-10 minutes, wash this off well with water.


Oats with honey and rosewater for moistuising skin 


Oats make for a moisturising face pack with ingredients like rosewater and honey. Rosewater is used as a natural astringent along with honey which keeps the skin well-hydrated and fresh.


Steps: Take 2 tablespoons of oats and 1 tablespoon of honey and rosewater and mix well. Apply this all over your face and neck and leave it for not more than 10 minutes. Wash well with lukewarm water.


Oats, milk and lime juice for skin lightning 


Oats work on evening out skin tone along with lemon juice and milk  which posses skin lightning effects. They scrub out all the impurities and dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. Lemons are natural astringents and bleaching agents which make them effective for lightning your skin tone while milk controls pigmentation due to the lactic acid present in it, hence giving a clear complexion.


Steps: Boil two tablespoons of oats and let it cool. Then, mix it with two tablespoons of milk and 4 tablespoons of lemon juice. Blend these well and apply all over the affected area. Leave it for at least 20-25 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.


Oatmeal pack to clear acne and open pores 


Cooked oats are an easy and natural remedy to relieve the skin from acne and cleanses clogged pores easily. The anti-inflammatory, anti-microbal properties and antioxidants in oats act as an ideal acne cleanser.


Steps: Cook some oats and leave it to cool. Ensure it has cooled down enough to apply on your face. Apply and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes. Once dry, rinse it off.
