Gets WP suspension system and Metzeler tyres.
The 2015 Husqvarna FS 450 marks the KTM-owned Swedish brand’s return to the supermoto segment. The motorcycle is being showcased at the ongoing INTERMOT 2014 in Cologne, Germany.
There isn’t much to talk about the styling of any supermoto bike, so going directly to the chassis, the 2015 FS 450 is based on a chorme molybdenum frame which features an injection-moulded three-piece subframe made of high-strength polyamide and an aluminium swing arm.
The single-cylinder 449.3 cc liquid cooled SOHC engine puts out a healthy 60 PS. The energetic motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox via an Adler hydraulic slipper clutch.
The WP upside down telescopic fork with a travel of 280 mm suspends the front of the supermoto while a 292 mm WP linked monoshock handles the suspension duty at the rear. The four-piston front and single piston rear discs from Brembo provide the stopping power. The Metzeler Racetec tyres are claimed to offer top-notch grip, traction and agility.
At a mere 110.5 kg of dry weight (fuel tank capacity is 7.5 litres), the 2015 Husqvarna FS 450 should be easily flickable. The bike has a wheelbase of 1,495 mm while the ground clearance and saddle height stand at 310 mm and 927 mm respectively.
