If you haven’t checked off the style resolutions you made back in January, now is a good time to re-evaluate your game plan. You might not have time to drop 15 pounds by the end of the year, but you can change up your look in just a few minutes. We asked Shaun White about his recent style transformations and what he’d be, if not a professional skateboarder and snowboarder.

1. Try a Haircut

Your girlfriend might spot your occasional trim, but everyone will notice an entirely different ‘do. When White–also known as “The Flying Tomato”–chopped his long red locks last year, the world took notice. So did he. “My helmet fit better … and I definitely use less shampoo now.” But don’t equate short hair with low maintenance. Even White says he uses a pomade to keep the flyaways in place. We recommend a water-based product like the Hanz de Fuko Hybridized Wax for a natural shine sans the oily finish.

2. Upgrade Your Accessories

Whether it’s your first watch or your favorite sneakers, go-to accessories can instantly change your look. For White, he doesn’t leave the house without his sunglasses. But the 28-year-old icon doesn’t just sign his name to his Oakley Signature Series. “Wider temples aren’t my style,” he says. So White was adamant about slimming down the profile in his latest style, the Enduro (seen above). With more rounded frames than the popular Holbrooks, these provide a vintage twist and are great for oval face shapes.

3. Expand Your Résumé

In addition to skateboarding, snowboarding, and designing part-time at Oakley, White also lends his creativity to everything from a boy’s line at Target to a Whitemint gum with Stride. Oh, did we mention he’s in a band? So if you’re in a creative rut, branch out with a Plan B: evaluate your interests and strengths, and then try something new that appeals to them. “If I weren’t a professional athlete, I’d probably be an interior designer,” says White, whose been known to re-imagine his own spaces, moving around the furniture when the feng shui isn’t quite right. “I’ve stayed at so many hotels over the years that I’ve learned what I like and don’t like.”
