Report – Tata Aria gets a price cut of INR 1 lakh, starts at INR 8.95 lakhs now

Now nearly INR 2 lakhs cheaper than the XUV500.

Tata Motors’ flagship product, the Aria, has been a slow seller for the company. Sales statistics for this year show that Tata sold an average of 123 units of the Aria each month, even as rivals from Toyota and Mahindra managed 3,847 units of the Innova and 3,050 units of the XUV500 respectively.

The Aria is now priced from INR 8.95 lakhs.

In a bid to make the car seem more attractive, the company introduced a revised version of the Aria in May this year. And now, to further push sales of the people carrier, Tata is offering a price cut of INR 1 lakh on the Aria. The base LX 4×2 variant which had a starting price of INR 9.95 lakhs, now carries a price of INR 8.95 lakhs.

In comparison, the base W4 variant of the XUV500 begins at INR 10.8 lakhs, and the Innova E Euro 4 is priced at INR 10.49 lakhs. [All prices ex-Showroom, New Delhi.]

The car is powered by a 2.2-liter VariCOR engine.

The Aria is powered by a 2.2-liter four-cylinder diesel engine which makes 150 PS (147.8 bhp) and 320 Nm of torque, matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The top-end Prestige variant benefits from a 4WD system.

An automatic transmission on the Aria could be offered in the future.
