The highly awaited show Satyamev Jayate is back on TV with Aamir Khan making our Sunday mornings a bit more informative and awakening us to the harsh realities of our society. The first episode of this reality series which is now its third season started on a positive note with a focus on how sports can help better the lives of children.
The episode showcased accounts of several children of different age groups who thanked sports or their mentors who pushed them forward to take up sports and how it changed their life in a big way.
From giving up doing drugs and alcoholism to teaching kids from the slums various sports, Akhilesh shared his sporting journey which made everyone teary-eyed. However, after this emotional upheaval, it was a rather proud moment for Indians especially women when world wrestling champions Babita and Geeta Kumari told their tale of how they reached to this level with their daily hard work, dedication and parents’ support. The sisters had to battle out societal pressure which often condemned women from wrestling but the duo emerged victorious and now have the blessing and backing of their entire village.
The young golf champion, kids from a poor background sharing their stories candidly with Aamir about how they became more confident and active by playing sports were other highlights of this episode.
