Dengue seems to be gaining alarming proportions in Odisha and has spread to 27 districts in the state with Kandhamal district being the newest area under siege.
According to reports a patient from Kandhamal district was found to be positive for dengue in the districts headquarters hospital on Saturday.
The report stated that out of the 256 sample blood tests carried out across the government hospitals in the state, 53 patients were detected as dengue positive pushing the number of patients with Dengue in the state up to 2370. According to the Health department, this number signals to the fact that about 50 people per day.
The State Government has confirmed that so far there have been seven deaths due to Dengue. According to recent reports from the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack said that out of a total of 134 patients admitted to the dengue ward, 7 have been admitted to the ICU out of which one is said to be critical.
