Ranbir Kapoor discharged after undergoing surgery for infected tonsils

ranbir-kapoorActor Ranbir Kapoor was discharged from a hospital following a minor surgery, said a source. According to a report, he was being treated for adenoid tonsil. Ranbir, who turned 32 on Sep 28, was admitted to the Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. ‘He was hospitalised…and he got discharged today morning. It was just a minor surgery, nothing serious,’ an official from the facility, told IANS.


If a report is to be believed, the adenoid tonsil had been troubling Ranbir for a while, due to which he had to sometimes sleep with his mouth open to ease breathing. 



Why did he need the surgery?


According to reports the  actor was suffering from difficulty breathing through his nose as he slept, which led to the inflammation of his adenoids and tonsils. The inflammation subsequently became worse and therefore they had to be removed.


What are adenoids and tonsils?


Adenoids is a small mass of tissue present at the back of your throat, at the end of your nasal passage. This mass of tissue is essential to help children beat infections and is usually present during a child’s formative years. The adenoids then shrink as the child grows and is usually much smaller in adults.


Your tonsils are a mass of lymphatic tissue present at the beginning of your throat, just where your tongue enters the throat.


In some people these adenoids get enlarged and make it difficult for them to breathe through their mouth. When these adenoids get inflamed it leads to the inflammation of the tonsils too. The common symptoms of enlarged adenoids and tonsils are; having a stuffy nose, inability to breathe through your nose especially when you are lying down, snoring, sore throat, trouble swallowing food, ear ache and swollen glands in the neck that can be felt with by feeling over the area just below the jaw.

Hrithik Roshan shares tips to overcome rejection, failure and disappointment in life

HrithikHe overcame stammering; witnessed his father’s failure as an actor and producer and his surviving a gunshot wound; saw his sister battle cancer; underwent a near fatal brain surgery; and has faced a broken marriage with his childhood sweetheart. Yet, Hrithik Roshan calls his journey a ‘fairy tale’ and says it is life’s adversities that build a man’s ‘mental muscle’.


One look at the actor’s washboard abs and chiselled physique in his forthcoming film ‘Bang Bang’, and you can guess the strenuous gym routines he must’ve followed. But during a telephonic chat with IANS, the 40-year-old son of filmmaker Rakesh Roshan spoke of his learnings via another ‘workout’. ‘Mental muscle can only be built in times of adversity – when you’re going through a struggle, pain or a suffering. Remember that’s your opportunity, that’s your gym to work out. Just as you go to the gym to work out on your body, an adversity is the gym for the mind.



‘That’s the time you have to build your mental muscle by disciplining yourself, by focussing on your actions and by not sitting for more than 10 minutes to think ‘Why is life so unfair?’ Then you have to snap out of it,’ said the actor as he gave out his ‘tools and rules’ of living life the way he now does – with focus, discipline and by challenging the impossibilities. The past year has been a physical, mental and emotional roller-coaster for Hrithik, but tiding over the ups and downs, he has upped the ante for action in Bollywood with ‘Bang Bang’.


Hrithik, whose ‘Bang Bang’ releases Thursday, a day before the festival of Dusshera, believes man’s biggest demon is his ‘own mind’. ‘What you think is impossible, is just that Raavan in your mind. You’ll have to kill that demon to focus on other people and towards contribution to the world,’ said the actor.


Hrithik, whose Greek god looks, flexible dance moves and versatile acting have enthralled Bollywood viewers for almost 15 years now, feels he has found the key to a happy life. ‘It’s a journey. But once you learn to trick your mind, then you always have the right tools and right rules to live by,’ said the actor, who feels responsible to teach youth and children to face bad times, rejection and impossibilities with a bang!


‘I think that’s something I feel very responsible towards. Knowing the struggles I’ve been through and looking at where I am today, it’s such a large paradox that it sounds like a fairytale. It sounds unreal. But if I can do it, I also want my children to know that it’s possible,’ he said. Apart from his acting career, imparting his learnings and sharing them with the world form a major part of his focus now. ‘I don’t know how…but I will do it through my brand HRX, in time. I have built this brand, and life will show me a way because I will keep on trying,’ he said.

Keira Knightley not worried about ageing

In an interview with Glamour magazine, the 29-year-old shared her views about ageing and said she was looking forward to her next big birthday,’ reports dailymail.co.uk.  The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star will turn 30 March 26. 


‘I’m not actually worried about turning 30. Because, honestly, my early twenties were not much fun. Then after 25, things just got better and better,’ she said.  ‘Maybe you stop caring as much about where you should be going and what other people think – which is all the s**t that makes you very unhappy early on,’ she added.  The actress, who got married to Klaxons rocker James Righton May 2013, also admitted that being married doesn’t make her feel grown-up.



‘Actually, I feel less grown-up as I go along. I reached my peak of grown-up behaviour at 20 and 21, and it’s been downhill since then,’ she said. ‘I was terribly sensible as a teenager but I’ve got far less so as I’ve grown up, which has been a huge relief for everyone – including my parents,’ she added.

How Jennifer Lopez got a toned butt for ‘Booty’

Jennifer also makes sure to incorporate core strengthening exercises, running on the beach and yoga in her workout regimen. As told to Daily Mail, JLo is very consistent with her workouts and she can’t go two days without it as she fears losing her toned physique.


JLo is very careful with her diet as she always wants to be in her best possible shape. Her secrets include eating four small protein-packed meals a day, drinking ice-cold water to speed up her metabolism.


How to get a toned butt


If you desire to get a toned booty like JLo’s you can try incorporating the following exercises in your fitness routine:


Hip abduction: Hip abduction involves balancing your body on either sides. As the name suggests, it works very well for your hips and outer thighs. It tones the butt and gives them a good definition and shape. 


Lunges: This exercise is done without any equipment but requires proper balance and posture. Lunges tone your glutes as well as your thigh muscles.With lunges, you can tone your butt  effectively with adequate number of repetitions.


Side jumps: Side jumps work very well on the butt muscles. Do 2 sets of side jumps for at least 10 counts daily for speedy results.


Squats: Squats are a quick trick for getting those defined buttocks. Squats are considered as the ultimate lower body exercise. They can either be done with weights or without weights. They target the muscles of the thighs, hips, buttocks, hamstrings and quads. 


Leg-crossover: This exercise works on your buttocks and inner thigh muscles. Moving in a crossed fashion, the abductor muscles in your outer thighs push your legs away from your body, while the abductor muscles in your inner thighs bring your legs toward each other. This movement is beneficial to build on muscle tissue, improving your metabolism rate.
