Actor Leonardo DiCaprio grabbed eyeballs when he sported a full beard and a slick hairstyle as he accepted the Clinton Global Citizen Award for his environmental work.
Leonardo’s look is a fine combination of classy and old school. This look is extremely simple and practical. The actor kept it a bit quirky by sporting a bun. If you have long hair and are heading for an event, this is how you can ape Leo’s look.
Hair length
For this look, there is not too much of an effort required as long as you have at least mid-length to long hair. Celebrity hairstylist Vikas Marwah says, ‘You can get this look if you haven’t cut your hair for 6 to 8 months. This is a result of an overgrown hairstyle which turns out like this.’
Styling it just right
This style is easy and absolutely fuss-free for those with long hair. This is a good way to keep long hair neat and in place. Vikas says, ‘It’s very simple, just apply some serum with gel for some strong hold and glossy sheen on your hair. Then ensure your hair is back-combed and tied into a low pony or bun with a clear elastic band.’
Hair texture
This style is slick and doesn’t have your hair all over the place. To get this look just right, it’s preferable that your hair is straight in texture. Vikas advises, ‘This hairstyle wont hold with curly hair. Your hair is needed to be smoother and tamed down. Straight hair works best for such a style. You could opt for a hair smoothing treatment like keratin if you have very curly or wavy hair.’
Perfect colour
You may want to stick to your natural hair colour to project your personal style, just the way it is. However, if you want to follow Leonardo’s look exactly or prefer something closer to his hair colour, shades of dark brown could be used. Vikas suggests, ‘For this sort of hair colour, a chocolate or mocha brown shade could be chosen.’
Don’t miss the beard
To complete this well-polished look, you need to have your beard longer than usual. Vikas says, ‘Leave your beard without trimming for a good 5-7 weeks. This is the bearded look, you will get.’
